This guitar was built for a gentleman from Nashville, a place known for SERIOUS musicians!Walnut Lizard Guitar He purchased the "Walnut Lizard" from me some time ago because its thicker neck fit his large hands and he now wanted something a little more personalized. In addition to the thicker neck on this guitar, it also has some other features that make it easier for him to play. The nut is 2" wide and, if you look closely at the pictures, you may notice that the frets are jumbo, (.103), up to the 12th fret and narrow, (.079), from the 13th fret on up. This was done to give as much space between the frets as possible for his large fingers when playing in the upper registers. Personally, I think that playability is the most important aspect of any instrument and, in this case, every little bit helped.

Blue Funk Guitar bookmatched flamed mapleThe arched top is bookmatched flamed Maple over a 2 ¾" thick semi-hollow Mahogany body with binding on the top and on the customer designed sound hole. The through-neck is a 5-piece Mahogany/Cherry laminate with the standard carbon fiber reinforcement bars. These can be seen in the picture of the guitar taken before the fingerboard was glued on.
The bound Gabon Ebony fingerboard has moon phase inlays in white mother-of-pearl and abalone with gold mother-of-pearl used for the 12th fret "full moon". Blue Funk Guitar Gabon Ebony fingerboard
Blue Funk Guitar engraved truss rod cover Also requested were the "Blue Funk" engraved truss rod cover and "Bad/Worse" pickup selector switch ring.
Blue Funk Guitar bad-worse pickup selector switch ringThe control knobs are recessed into the body and include volume and tone for each of the Bill Lawrence, (www.billlawrence.com), L500 series blade humbuckers as well as a 6-position "Varitone" switch that has mother-of-pearl dots inlayed at each switch position. A Wilkinson tremolo, Hipshot Tremsetter, (www.hipshot.com), and Gotoh 510 tuning machines top off the hardware list. These are currently my favorite machines. They are very smooth with an exceptionally precise 21:1 tuning ratio and a nice "organic" look. The finish is a "Blueburst" done in acrylic/urethane and buffed out to a high gloss.
